💠 Kusama Staking Guide: How to Join a Nomination Pool

🔰 Introduction

Kusama is a scalable and flexible network closely tied to the Polkadot ecosystem. By participating in staking, you help secure the network and earn passive income. ITRocket team has launched Validator Pool #213. This guide will help you quickly join the pool and start earning.

🪪 1. Wallet Creation

1. Install the Polkadot.js Extension

Go to installation

2. Open the extensions menu and find polkadot.js

Ensure the extension is active and functioning properly.

3. Create a new account

Click on the extension icon → + → Create new account

4. Save the seed phrase

This is the only way to recover access to your wallet. Store it securely!

5. Complete account setup

Choose a name, set a password, and finish creating your wallet.

6. Make sure the account is created

Your wallet should appear like this:

📉 2. Checking the Minimum Stake

1. Open the Chain State section.

2. From the dropdown, select the following parameters:

- module: `staking`

- method: `minNominatorBond()`

3. Click the “+” button to view the current minimum stake value.

Example: how the value is displayed

If you see the value 100,000,000,000, it corresponds to 0.1 KSM. In the Kusama network, one KSM equals 10^12 Plancks — the smallest unit. This threshold is defined by network parameters and may change, so it is recommended to check it manually before staking.

💸 3. Funding the Wallet

If your wallet has no funds yet, top it up through an exchange (e.g. Bybit, Binance, etc.) by sending KSM to the address generated in your Polkadot.js Extension wallet.

Make sure the amount exceeds the minimum threshold — for example, 0.2–0.3 KSM — to cover possible fees and changes in the minimum stake requirement.

🏦 4. Joining a Nomination Pool

1. Visit the Staking → Pools section

2. In the list of available nomination pools, you can use the search function to find one that suits your preferences. For example, you may consider Pool ID 213, maintained by the ITRocket team.

3. Click Join next to the pool you choose.

4. Enter the amount of tokens you want to stake. It must be greater than the minimum specified earlier.

5. Confirm the transaction using the Polkadot.js Extension — a pop-up will appear asking for confirmation.

✅ 5. Participation Verification

1. Return to the Pools tab and confirm your address appears among Pool #213 participants.

2. Rewards usually start to accrue after 1–2 eras (a few days).
